UTILIZAÇÃO DO TENS COM ENFASE NA DIMINUIÇÃO DO QUADRO ÁLGICO EM PACIENTES COM OSTEOARTRITE DE JOELHO

A Revista Acadêmica Online, com prazer, introduz o estudo intitulado “UTILIZAÇÃO DO TENS COM ENFASE NA DIMINUIÇÃO DO QUADRO ÁLGICO EM PACIENTES COM OSTEOARTRITE DE JOELHO" de lavratura dos pesquisadores: Clèia Soares Santana; Ingrid de Souza Fernandes da Silva; Jennifer Sousa Morais Lima; Luis Guilherme Oliveira de Alencar; André Luiz Maia do Vale.

Neste estudo, foi explorada a eficácia da estimulação elétrica nervosa transcutânea (TENS) no alívio da dor em pacientes com osteoartrite de joelho. Objetivo: analisar a eficácia da estimulação elétrica nervosa transcutânea (TENS) no alívio da dor em pacientes com osteoartrite de joelhoMétodo: foi utilizado o métodode revisão sistemática de artigos científicos, com base no PreferredReportingItems for Systematic Reviews and MetaAnalyses (PRISMA). Os artigos foram buscados nas principais bases de dados em saúde: LILACS, PEDro, PubMed, SciELO, através dos descritores iniciais Osteoartrite, Osteoartrite de joelho e Terapia de estimulação elétrica, incluindo ensaios clínicos randomizados, para analisar os resultados de diversos estudos. Resultados:Após rigorosa análise, 7 artigos foram considerados elegíveis para a sumarização dos dados e avaliação da qualidade metodológica. Estes artigos, predominantemente em português, foram publicados entre os anos de 2011 e 2022. Conclusão:a eficácia da TENS varia, com alguns estudos indicando benefícios significativos na analgesia e função, enquanto outros não encontram diferenças notáveis em relação ao placebo. Interpretar esses resultados requer cautela, considerando as complexidades das intervenções e a necessidade de mais pesquisas padronizadas para orientar a prática clínica.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: This study explores the efficacy of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) in relieving pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) in relieving pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis using a systematic review approach based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Methods: A systematic review of scientific articles was conducted, utilizing key databases in healthcare: LILACS, PEDro, PubMed, SciELO, with initial search terms including Osteoarthritis, Knee Osteoarthritis, and Electrical Stimulation Therapy. Randomized clinical trials were included to analyze the results of various studies. Results: After rigorous analysis, 7 articles were deemed eligible for data summarization and methodological quality assessment. These articles, predominantly in Portuguese, were published between 2011 and 2022. Conclusion: The efficacy of TENS varies, with some studies indicating significant benefits in analgesia and function, while others find no notable differences compared to a placebo. Interpreting these results requires caution, considering the complexities of interventions and the need for more standardized research to guide clinical practice.
