O SANTO GODERICO DE FINCHALE: EREMITA E SEU EREMITÉRIO

A Revista Acadêmica Online, com prazer, introduz o estudo intitulado “O SANTO GODERICO DE FINCHALE: EREMITA E SEU EREMITÉRIO" de lavratura do pesquisador: Raimundo Carvalho Moura Filho.

Este artigo examina a intricada relação do eremitismo de caráter informal e o papel da Igreja, representado pelo priorado de Durham, na Anglia. Mantendo sua posição dominante entre as casas monásticas, apesar das tentativas de outras ordens religiosas de se estabelecerem na área, buscaram uma associação com a vida de Godric de Finchale, um eremita que viveu no século XII. A análise permite, a partir da análise de hagiografias, uma compreensão mais profunda do papel do eremitismo na sociedade medieval e sua relevância para as instituições religiosas da época.

Abstract: This article examines the intricate relationship between informal eremitism and the role of the Church, represented by Durham Priory, in England. Maintaining its dominant position among the monastic houses, despite attempts by other religious orders to establish themselves in the area, the priory sought an association with the life of Godric of Finchale, a hermit who lived in the 12th century. The analysis, based on hagiographies, allows for a deeper understanding of the role of eremitism in medieval society and its relevance for religious institutions of the time.
