A Eficácia da Estimulação Musical em Pacientes com a Doença de Alzheimer

A Revista Acadêmica Online, com prazer, introduz o estudo intitulado “A Eficácia da Estimulação Musical em Pacientes com a Doença de Alzheimer" de lavratura das pesquisadoras: Paulo Magnus Sousa de Sena; Orientador: Ana Luíza Ferreira Donatti; 

Introdução: A doença de Alzheimer se caracteriza como uma patologia neurodegenerativa, progressiva e incurável que afeta a capacidade funcional dos pacientes afetados, fazendo-os perder continuamente sua autonomia e independência, Por isso, métodos terapêuticos que tem se mostrado eficientes como a musicoterapia devem receber atenção especial e estímulo ao uso cada vez maiores. Objetivo: investigar se a estimulação através da música pode promover melhorias em aspectos cognitivos, psiquiátricos e emocionais em pacientes diagnosticados com a doença de Alzheimer. Método: Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura (RSL) baseada no Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), organizada e conduzida de forma independente por dois pesquisadores, referente ao tema – musicoterapia e doença de Alzheimer. A busca foi realizada nas bases de dados PubMed, PEDro, SciELO e LILACS, utilizando os descritores “demência”, “Alzheimer”, “doença de Alzheimer”, “ musicoterapia” e “música”. Resultados: As intervenções com música de caráter mais ativas e participativas demonstraram resultados mais contundentes na maioria dos objetos analisados, como dor crônica, fluência verbal, ansiedade e humor, enquanto outros aspectos como o estado cognitivo demonstraram resultados variáveis e inconclusivos. Discussão: Corroborando com as evidências mais atuais disponíveis, os resultados obtidos na presente revisão sistemática refletem tanto a eficácia da musicoterapia quanto as incertezas sobre seus efeitos terapêuticos mais profundos. Conclusão: Apesar de melhorar a qualidade de vida e parecer eficiente no retardamento da progressão da doença de Alzheimer, apresentando bons resultados, a falta de padronização da intervenção comum a todos os estudos analisados e a incerteza sobre a durabilidade dos efeitos terapêuticos a longo prazo podem ser empecilhos para se chegar a uma conclusão definitiva.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Alzheimer's disease is characterized as a neurodegenerative, progressive and incurable pathology that affects the functional capacity of affected patients, causing them to continually lose their autonomy and independence. Therefore, therapeutic methods that have been shown to be efficient, such as music therapy, should receive special attention and encourage their use with responsibility. Objective: to investigate whether stimulation through music can promote improvements in cognitive, psychiatric and emotional aspects in patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Method: A systematic literature review (SLR) was carried out based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), organized and conducted independently by two researchers, referring to the topic – music therapy and Alzheimer's disease. The search was performed in PubMed, PEDro, SciELO and LILACS databases, using the descriptors “dementia”, “Alzheimer”, “Alzheimer's disease”, “music therapy” and “music”. Results: Interventions with more active and participatory character music showed more striking results in most objects analyzed, such as chronic pain, verbal fluency, anxiety and mood, while other aspects such as cognitive status showed variable and inconclusive results. Discussion: Corroborating with the most current evidence available, the results obtained in the present systematic review reflect both the effectiveness of music therapy and the uncertainties about its deeper therapeutic effects. Conclusion: Despite improving quality of life and seeming to be efficient in delaying the progression of Alzheimer's disease, with good results, the lack of standardization of the intervention common to all analyzed studies and the uncertainty about the durability of the therapeutic effects in the long term may obstacles to reaching a definitive conclusion.
